- General Anesthesia is used for major operations, such as knees replacement or open-heart surgery, and causes your to lose consciousness
- IV/Monitored Sedation is often used for minimally invasive procedures like colonoscopies. The level sedation ranges from minimal – drowsy but able to talk – to deep.
- Regional Anesthesia is often used during childbirth and surgeries of the arm.leg or abdomen. It numbs a large portion of the body, but you remain aware.
- Local Anesthesia is for procedures such as getting stitches or having a mole removed. It numbs a small area, and you are alert and wake.
Will my Insurance cover Anesthesia? What are my options if I have a high deductible or no coverage?
In all of the areas we serve anesthesia is the standard of care for patient comfort and clinical efficacy. We may have a care team (Anesthesiologist [MD or DO] and a Nurse anesthetists [CRNA]) working together,in that case you may receive 2 bills, each will be half of the total anesthesia encounter. You may also have a Anesthesiologist only delivery your anesthesia care, in that case you should receive a single EOB (explanation of benefits) That EOB is the value that your insurance has determined for the anesthesia encounter and more importantly your obligation toward that care.
Many patients because of high deductible and underinsured situations it is best to call our billing operations at 800-242-1442 x 4383 to resolve your concerns.
